Glass | Holmegaard

In 1823 Earl Christian Danneskjold-Samsøe received permission from the Danish king to build a glassworks in Holmegaard Mose (Holmegaard Marsh). At first, there was little interest in the glass. This changed as late as the 1930s with the designs of Jacob E. Bang, Per Lütken and Bang’s son Michael. Per Lütken (1916-1998) worked at Holmegaard glassworks from 1942 until his death in 1998, creating some of the most beautiful objects and classics of the factory, including the "Ideelle", "Skibsglas" and "No. 5" series. It was through these aesthetic creations in timeless designs that the Holmegaard glassworks flourished in the 1960s. Even today, the company is known for its high-quality products in Danish design.
